Fjord Line, who will merge with Masterferries later this year, aim to become the leading operator to and from western Norway. A key element in their strategy for the future is the reservation and check-in system where Fjord Line has signed a 5 year contract with Carus who will provide their cutting edge reservation and departure control system, CarRes, on a Managed Service basis.
“We have been using CarRes since 2001 and are very happy with the solution and service we have been experiencing this far and we are convinced that it is the best solution available for us to meet our goal of increasing our market share from 7 to 20%”, says Linda Selle, IT Manager at Fjord Line.
“We are especially interested in the expertise Carus has in managing this type of mission critical application and their in-depth knowledge of automating business processes. We know that they have managed to help their customers to achieve very high levels of bookings over the Internet and we are also very interested in their solutions for automated check-in and boarding” she continues.
CarRes is implemented on Carus’ servers in their computer hall in Mariehamn, Finland, with all of Fjord Lines offices connecting to the central system via the Internet. The Managed Service concept includes Carus taking full responsibility for the central hardware and communications as well as systems availability, maintenance and upgrades thus reducing the need for Fjord Line to employ specialised IT professionals and giving them more time to focus on delivering their services to their customers.
Anders Rundberg, Managing Director of Carus says “We are proud to be reselected by Fjord Line to continue as their partner in this critical business area and we believe their decision is proof of the functionality and quality of our products and services”.
